Jamiroquai band members to perform charity gig in St Neots10:16 - 08 July 2009
AN all-star cast of musicians including two members of Jamiroquai and a former Brand New Heavies singer are set to perform a charity gig in St Neots.
Taking place at the Priory Centre, the concert will see a performance by Decoy, which is made up of Jamiroquai guitarist, Rob Harris, Jamiroquai base player, Paul Turner and former Brand New Heavies singer, Hazel Fernandez.
The gig will be a mix of funk tunes inspired by the likes of 60s American band, Earth, Wind and Fire.
It has been arranged by Joanne and Paul McKnight to help raise money to allow their son, Maxwell to live as normal a life as possible.
Five-year-old Maxwell McKnight, of Nelson Road was born with Type II Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) - a genetic disorder, which means he will never be able to walk.
The youngster undergoes hours of physiotherapy a day to help prevent his spine from curling.
It is hoped the concert will raise enough money to pay for alterations to their home to provide a wet room and downstairs toilet big enough for Maxwell's wheelchair.
Jamiroquai band member, Mr Harris, lives in Little Paxton and went to school with Mrs McKnight.
The 37-year-old started playing guitar at the age of seven joined Jamiroquai in 2000.
INFORMATION: Decoy will be performing at the Priory Centre on Saturday, August 1 from 8pm to midnight. Tickets cost £25 and are available in St Neots from Hong Kong Takeaway or Rock's Noodle Bar or phone 01480 388922. Proceeds will go to the Maxwell Mcknight fundraising appeal.
The gig is for over 18s only. To find out more, visit
